Strange Sanitation is a local, family-run residential trash service proudly serving Ottawa, Kansas and surrounding areas.
We’ve built our service around something simple but rare—showing up when we say we will, communicating clearly, and treating every customer like a neighbor, not a number.
What Our Service Includes
Our residential trash service is designed to be straightforward, reliable, and easy to depend on:
- Weekly household trash pickup
- Consistent, scheduled service days
- Clear communication for weather delays or route changes
- Locally owned and operated with direct accountability

We currently service:
- Ottawa, Kansas (city limits)
- Select surrounding rural areas (based on route availability)
If you’re outside city limits, reach out with your address—we’re actively building and expanding routes.

Services Not Included
To keep service efficient and affordable, the following are not included in standard residential pickup:
- Recycling service
- Construction or demolition debris
- Hazardous or prohibited materials
Accepted & Prohibited Items
We accept normal household trash that is properly bagged and tied.
We do not collect:
- Motor oil
- Car batteries
- Paint
- Gasoline or flammable liquids
- Tires
- Steel, iron, or heavy scrap materials
Service Guidelines
To keep routes running smoothly for everyone:
- All trash must be bagged and securely tied
- Trash should be set out the night before or early the morning of pickup
- Typical service volume is 3-5 standard household bags per week
- Additional bags may be accepted, but consistently excessive volume may require a pricing adjustment
