Strange Sanitation is a local, family-run residential trash service launching to serve homes within the city limits of Ottawa, Kansas.
We are starting small on purpose — building reliable routes, clear communication, and fair pricing from day one instead of rushing growth.
What Our Service Includes
Our standard residential trash service includes:
- Weekly residential trash pickup
- Consistent, scheduled service days
- Clear communication in the event of weather delays or route changes
- Local ownership and direct accountability
Service Area — Launch Phase
At launch, service is limited to:
- Homes located inside Ottawa, Kansas city limits
This allows us to:
- Keep routes efficient
- Reduce missed pickups
- Control fuel and operating costs
- Provide better, more reliable service from the beginning
Additional service areas may be added in the future.
Service Start Date
Our first pickup routes are scheduled to begin on:
March 2, 2026
We are currently accepting Founding Customers to help us finalize routes and launch successfully.
Services Not Included at Launch
To set clear expectations, the following services are not included in standard service at launch:
- Recycling pickup
- Bulk item pickup
- Ongoing yard waste service
These services may be added later as optional add-ons once routes are established.
Yard Waste — Founders Only
Founding customers receive one complimentary yard waste pickup, scheduled later in the year.
Details, limits, and scheduling information will be communicated in advance.
Service Guidelines
To ensure safe, efficient, and consistent service for all customers, the following guidelines apply:
- All trash must be bagged or bundled (no loose trash)
- Construction materials are not accepted
- We do not collect hazardous or prohibited items, including:
- Motor oil
- Car batteries
- Paint
- Gasoline
- Tires
- Steel or iron
- Trash must be placed at the curb the night before or early the morning of your scheduled pickup day
For large or bulky items, please contact our office in advance to discuss availability. Additional fees may apply.
These guidelines help us keep routes safe, efficient, and reliable for everyone.
